Renato Moriconi

Renato Moriconi is a plastic artist who dedicates himself to painting and creating books. He has works published in Brazil and other countries. In his country, he received the “Melhor livro-imagem” awards in 2011 and 2014, and “Melhor livro para a criança” in 2012 by the FNLIJ (Brazilian section of IBBY). She also received the Monteiro Lobato award and the Jabuti for Children’s Illustration in 2014. In 2016 she received the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award (USA) and was a finalist for the “Best Art Book” award from the Italian magazine Andersen, both for the book Bárbara. In 2018, this book appeared on School Library Journal’s “Most Surprisingly Unconventional Children’s Books” list and The Boston Globe’s Best Children’s Books of 2018. Some of his books are in the White Ravens selection.
In 2018, for his illustration of Inside a Zebra, with text by Micaela Chirif, published by Editorial Limonero, he received an honorable mention at the Talking Pictures Award at the New York Rights Fair.
He teaches courses, workshops and conferences in Brazil and other countries at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (Peru) and the Scuola Internazionale d’ Illustrazione (Sarmede / Italy). He is a guest professor of the postgraduate course “Books, children and young people: theory, mediation and criticism” at the Vera Cruz Institute of São Paulo.

Other books
