Micaela Chirif

Micaela Chirif studied Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and has a Master’s degree in books and children’s literature from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She writes poetry and illustrated books for children. Some of her books have been translated into Korean, Japanese, English, Portuguese and French. In 2016 she published A circus without a tent (Random, 2016), written in collaboration with the writer Carlos Yushimito. That same year she also published ¿Where is Tomás? (Ekaré, 2016). In 2017, this last book received a Mention from the IBBY Chile Colibrí Medal and the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award. In 2018 she published Niebla and Inside a Zebra. The latter obtained an Honorable Mention in the Talking Pictures Award granted by the New York Rights Fair and was included in the White Ravens 2019 selection. In October 2019 she won the Hispano-American Prize for Poetry for Children.
